“As Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, I want to emphasize that I will not show favoritism. I am bringing the Director General of Mineral and Coal to take action against all companies operating in the mining sector that do not comply with existing regulations,” said Bahlil in a written statement, Thursday (4/12).
In front of the refugees, Bahlil also promised to resolve the problem of illegal mining and revoke mining permits that do not comply with applicable regulations.
Not only that, Bahlil ordered the Director General of Minerals and Coal to immediately evaluate mining permits and take firm action against business entities that act outside the proper corridors.
“If we find in the evaluation that they are violating, not being orderly, then we will not hesitate to take action in accordance with the applicable regulations. I assure you once again, in mining, if there are those who do not comply with mining rules and standards, I will not hesitate to revoke them,” he explained.
Strict action against mining business actors who are reluctant to carry out their mining activities in accordance with good mining principles is in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to take firm action against illegal mining practices in the country.
The President’s instructions regarding crackdown on illegal mining provide clear guidance for all levels of government and law enforcement officials.
Thus, there is no longer any reason to hesitate or be afraid in eradicating illegal mining networks from upstream to downstream, in order to maintain the sovereignty of natural resources.
Strict action has been taken by the Task Force for Controlling Forest Areas (Satgas PKH), of which the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources is a member in upholding sovereignty over natural resources (SDA) in Forest Areas (Satgas PKH) by taking back control of millions of hectares of state forest areas that have been used illegally.
To date, the total area of forest that has been successfully regained control by the PKH Task Force has reached 3,312,022.75 hectares (ha).Of this amount, 915,206.46 ha has been handed over to the relevant ministries.
In detail, 833,413.46 ha was allocated to PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (Persero) for productive management, while 81,793.00 ha was returned as a conservation area in the Tesso Nilo National Park, Riau.
The remainder, 2,398,816.29 ha, is still in the administrative process and will soon be handed over to the relevant ministry.
This task force also targets controlling 4.2 million hectares of illegal mining so that the benefits return to the people. With a firm legal approach and cross-institutional support, the PKH Task Force ensures that forests as national assets are managed for the benefit of the state and society.
