The contract will end in December 2025.AIFF and FSDL also failed to renew a new contract agreement which caused a deadlock in the implementation of the Indian Super League.
AIFF also did not receive a single offer for the commercial rights tender until November 7, which was the final deadline.
Due to the uncertainty regarding when the Indian Super League would start, a number of Indian footballers finally launched a protest through an open letter uploaded by the players on their social media accounts on Tuesday (11/11).

“We, the professional footballers who play in the Indian Super League, are united to make a plea and, more importantly, convey the message that we are united in our efforts to start the Indian Super League season. Simply put, we want to play right now,” wrote Sunil Chhetri via an open letter post on Instagram on Tuesday (11/11).
“Our anger, frustration and sadness have now been replaced by despair. Desperation to play the sport we love, in front of the people who mean the world to us, our families and our fans. This is a plea to all those involved in the management of our sport in this country, to do whatever is necessary for the football season to begin. India needs competitive football now more than ever,” Sunil Chhetri added.
Apart from Sunil Chhetri, other footballers who have careers in India such as Mohammed Rashid and Gurpreet Singh Sandhu also posted the same open letter.
