, Putu Panji apologized for failing to take his team further in the 2025 Qatar U-17 World Cup.
Indonesia’s journey in the 20th edition of the U-17 World Cup officially ended in the group stage, Group H, after they finished third with three points.There are eight best third-ranked teams that can qualify for the round of 32, but Indonesia is not included in the list because they lost on goal difference to the third-ranked teams from the other groups.
“We are sorry that our steps have stopped here, but not with the fire of our enthusiasm which wants to continue to take Indonesia to fly higher,” said Panji on his official Instagram.

Even though they failed to qualify, Indonesia’s journey to the 2025 U-17 World Cup ended with a sense of pride.The reason is, in the last match against Honduras, Monday, they won 2-1.
This victory was the first victory achieved by Indonesia in the U-17 World Cup from a total of six matches they played during the two editions from 2023 when playing as hosts.
Panji said what his team did in the U-17 World Cup was proof that Indonesia could be on the world football stage.
“Our journey is not easy in this World Cup, but we don’t close our eyes to our struggles so far and it has been proven that Indonesia can be on the world football stage,” said the Bali United player.
Panji has made 17 appearances for the U-17 national team, three of which came at the 2025 U-17 World Cup. He appeared in full in the first two matches against Zambia and Brazil which ended in defeat.In the last match against Honduras, Panji only played 79 minutes after he was injured.
“I am grateful to be at this stage and want to express my thanks to the coaching staff and officials on the team. And my colleagues from the beginning of the team’s formation until this World Cup,” said Panji.
“And of course all the Indonesian people who have always supported our struggle from the beginning until now, once again we would like to express our deepest gratitude.”
