In a written statement uploaded on social media on Thursday (27/11) evening, the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong also asked all Indonesian citizens to remain calm and follow the instructions given by local authorities.

“The Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong has sent a team to the location of the incident to coordinate directly with local authorities, carry out data collection and provide assistance in accordance with safety protocols and local regulations,” said the Indonesian Consulate General.
“The Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong provides an emergency post and logistical support at the office building of the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong, at the address 127-129 Leighton Road, 6-8 Keswick Street, Causeway Bay.”
The Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong also confirmed that he had coordinated with local authorities in ensuring aid facilities, even the issuance of Indonesian passports for Indonesian citizens affected by the fire.

They also emphasized that all Indonesian citizens in Hong Kong remain alert to all fraud attempts that irresponsibly use the fire in Tai Po as a mode of fraud.
“The Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong, in coordination with local authorities, ensures the facilitation of assistance to all Indonesian citizens/PMI affected by the fire incident in Tai Po, including the re-issuance of Indonesian passport documents and other related documents lost as a result of the fire in question.”
“Avoid sending money to individuals or groups with identities and information whose veracity cannot be ascertained,” advised the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong.
Two Indonesian citizens were previously confirmed to have died in a devastating fire that hit seven apartments in Hong Kong.
“To date, 2 (two) Indonesian citizens have been declared dead and 2 (two) other people have been injured,” said the official statement from the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong received by hitclubapk3Indonesia.com, Thursday (27/11).
“All the victims were Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in the domestic sector.”
The Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong has contacted the families of the affected Indonesian citizens to provide clear information as well as inform them of the next steps for handling them.
A fire broke out at an apartment building complex in Wang Fuk Court, Tai Po, northern Hong Kong on Wednesday afternoon.As a result of the fire, at least 83 people have been confirmed dead.

The incident was one of the deadliest fires in decades in Hong Kong, a region with some of the world’s tallest and most densely populated apartment blocks.
Three people, two directors and an engineering consultant from Prestige Construction, the firm contracted to carry out maintenance on the buildings for the deadly fire.
Police said those arrested were suspected of murder because they had used unsafe materials.
