Indonesia is one of eight Asian teams that have qualified for the 2025 U-17 World Cup. The other seven teams are host team Qatar, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan.
The drawing results put Indonesia in Group H along with Brazil, Honduras and Zambia.Indonesia is actually looking at the competition with confidence but the final results say otherwise.
Indonesia played nervously in the first match and lost 1-3 to Zambia.Even though they took the lead through Zahaby Gholy, Indonesia lost at the end of the match.
The pattern of play did not go well and the attacks that were built often failed.Lack of initiative and passing errors were the most obvious obstacles in this match.
The improvement in the game was seen in the second match against Brazil.Putu Panji et al dared to take the initiative and put up fierce resistance even though they lost 0-4 at the end of the match.
Indonesia’s game graphics improved in the third match.It was proven that Indonesia was able to win 2-1 over Honduras.
Indonesia scored first through executing Evandra Florasta’s penalty in the 52nd minute.Two minutes later Honduras equalized the score 1-1 with a penalty too.Fadly Alberto’s goal in the 72nd minute was the difference.
This result places Indonesia in third place in the standings with three points.Meanwhile, Brazil has the right to win the group followed by Zambia as runner up.
The chance of qualifying for the round of 32 via the best third place route is very small and depends on the results of other group matches.
Indonesia was confirmed to be eliminated after Uganda beat France 1-0 and Paraguay drew 0-0 against the Republic of Ireland.
This result made Indonesia finish 10th in the final standings for the best third place in the 2025 U-17 World Cup. Meanwhile, only the top eight teams have the right to qualify for the top 32 through this scheme.
