Pezeshkian said that Iran is facing an extraordinary water crisis due to the ongoing drought.
“If it doesn’t rain, we will have to start limiting water supplies in Tehran next month. If the drought continues, we will run out of water and be forced to flee the city,” said Pezeshkian, quoted

.
Pezeshkian stressed the need for better management and conservation of water and energy resources.
Tehran’s water supply depends on five main dams, namely Lar, Mamlu, Amir Kabir, Taleqan and Latyan.Amir Kabir is the largest dam.
However, Iran has experienced a sharp decline in rainfall over the last five years.Meteorological data shows that rainfall in Tehran this year is about 40 percent below the seasonal average.
Lack of rainfall, especially in spring and summer, causes dam water levels to drop drastically. This affects surface water and groundwater reserves.
The Tehran Water Authority warned in July that dams supplying Tehran with water had reached their lowest level in a century due to a prolonged drought.
Water shutoffs occur periodically during the summer. On Monday (3/11), the head of the Tehran Water Authority, Behzad Parsa, said the dam’s water reserves could only supply Tehran for another two weeks if current conditions continued.
