which focuses on protecting the rights and welfare of children, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said Israel was blocking important aid including 1.6 million syringes to vaccinate children in the Gaza Strip,

.
UNICEF said it faced serious challenges in sending millions of syringes and refrigerators to store vaccine vials to Gaza. The needle has been awaiting customs clearance since August.
“Both syringes and refrigerators are considered multi-purpose items by Israel, and these items are very difficult for us to obtain through the licensing and inspection process, even though these items are very urgent,” said UNICEF spokesperson Ricardo Pires on Tuesday (11/11), quoted

Multipurpose or dual-use goods refer to goods that Israel considers to have the potential for military or civilian use. They always argue that these items could be misused by Hamas.
UNICEF launched the first round of vaccinations in Gaza last week. This program is to reach 4,000 children under the age of three who have not received routine vaccines against polio, measles and pneumonia.
On that day, more than 2,400 children received various vaccines. However, they had to do two more rounds to reach all the children.
“And for that, we need more supplies,” said Pires.
UNICEF also stated that more humanitarian aid was coming in during this ceasefire phase but several important items continued to be rejected by the Israeli authorities. These items include 938,000 ready-to-use baby milk bottles and spare parts for water trucks.
Responding to this statement, the Israeli military body that monitors the flow of aid to Gaza, the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), stated that Zionist forces did not prevent the flow of syringes or cooling equipment.
Regarding multipurpose items, they said they were very careful to ensure they were not used by Hamas.
“[So that Hamas does not] exploit aid for their military development,” according to COGAT.
They also claim that hundreds of trucks carrying water, fuel, gas and medical equipment enter Gaza every day.
COGAT then offered alternative solutions to international organizations regarding aid or equipment that could enter Gaza. However, they did not provide further details.
During this ceasefire phase, Israel frequently committed violations including limiting humanitarian aid and launching brutal attacks on Gaza.In the framework of the agreement, it is stated that Israel must receive more humanitarian aid into Gaza and cessation of hostilities.
Israel has launched aggression against Palestine since October 2023. Since then, Zionist troops have indiscriminately attacked residents and civilian objects. As a result, more than 68,000 residents in Palestine were killed and millions of people were forced to become refugees.
