The announcement of the construction of the new settlement did not specify when the decision was taken.
Smotrich vowed to continue to block the creation of a Palestinian State and expand the occupation. He also argued for land grabbing by claiming that the land was the inheritance of Israel’s ancestors.
“We will continue to develop, build and settle on the lands of our ancestors, with confidence in the justice of the path we follow,” Smotrich said.
Israel continues to launch attacks against Palestine even though it has agreed to a ceasefire.
Most recently, six were killed and a number of other people were injured in Israel’s deadly attack on a shelter in Gaza City on Friday (19/12).
Local sources said an Israeli tank shell hit the second floor of a school converted into a temporary shelter for Palestinians.
Reported
Al Jazeera
, when the attack occurred, dozens of Palestinians were gathering to attend a wedding.
This attack is the latest of hundreds of violations of the Israeli ceasefire that took effect last October.
This attack also occurred when United States President Donald Trump’s special envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and other senior US officials were scheduled to meet to discuss phase two of the ceasefire in Gaza.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that talks were underway between representatives of Qatar, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.
Rubio emphasized that the US priority is to complete the first phase of the ceasefire agreement by forming a committee of Palestinian technocrats, establishing a “Peace Council” and deploying international troops to the region.
“No one is arguing that the status quo will continue long term or is desirable, and that’s why we have a sense of urgency to fully complete phase one,” Rubio said.
