Japan’s Mount Sakurajima Erupts, Volcanic Ash 4,400 Meters High

Mount Sakurajima
in Japan experienced an eruption on Sunday (16/11) morning local time.In this eruption, volcanic ash was ejected as high as 4,400 meters.

, no damage was reported.An ashfall warning has also been issued by the local government.

However, the Japan Meteorological Agency predicted ashfall would occur in parts of Kagoshima and nearby Miyazaki Prefecture, as the eruption continued several times.
“In areas that are expected to experience moderate amounts of ashfall,” the agency said.
“Please take precautions to protect yourself from ash, such as using an umbrella or mask, and make sure to drive slowly,” he continued.
The Japan Meteorological Agency also maintained its alert level at level three on a scale of five, which limits access to the mountain.
Mount Sakurajima is an active stratovolano volcano located in Kagoshima Prefecture in Kyushu, Japan.This mountain is the most active volcano in Japan.
As of April 2021, volcanic activity is still continuing and spewing volcanic ash into the surrounding area.Previous eruptions formed white sand plateaus in the surrounding area.
On 13 September 2016, a team of experts from the University of Bristol and the Sakurajima Volcano Research Center in Japan estimated that the volcano could have a major eruption within 30 years;since then, two eruptions have occurred.
