as a person who obeys the rules and is firm in his work.

During the time the deceased served as Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Committee and law enforcer, Jimly said that there were many things that he should serve as examples and lessons for the problematic problems he faced.
So, he said, in the future law enforcement agencies, especially the Corruption Eradication Commission, must be even better at carrying out their duties as corruption eradicators.
“I think it is important to invite the entire congregation, all members of the community to reminisce about the problems that occurred when Antasari Azhar was chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission. So that it can be a lesson to improve in the future. Moreover, the Corruption Eradication Committee has not yet recovered,” he said.
He said that the experience and all the problems that the deceased had experienced at the KPK must be used as lessons so that the institution can be better at eradicating corruption in the future.
“We hope that the death of the deceased will remind the current KPK leadership to improve themselves, improve themselves, especially in the midst of challenges where the prosecutor’s role is increasingly prominent in law enforcement, especially eradicating criminal acts of corruption,” he explained.
According to him, the cases that Antasari faced during his lifetime were considered not too serious. However, at that time the Corruption Eradication Committee was facing many problems so he had to accept the pressure and risks that he had to bear as leader.
“I myself think that in the case that ensnared him, he wasn’t really at fault. It was just that the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) had problems in the era when he faced a lot of problems. Pressure from outside and so on, so he had to accept the consequences,” said Jimly.
Antasari was once imprisoned on charges of being the mastermind behind the murder of businessman Nasrudin Zulkarnaen, Director of Putra Rajawali Banjaran.
Zulkarnaen was shot dead after playing golf at Padang Golf Modernland, Tangerang.
In 2010, Antasari was found guilty and sentenced to 18 years in prison, lighter than the prosecutor’s demand, namely the death penalty.
Antasari continues to deny all accusations of murder, including the alleged affair which was the main motive for the murder.
The suspect’s status also prompted President SBY to dismiss Antasari as Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Committee.
Antasari never served the full term of his sentence because in 2010 he received a remission of four years and six months.
This case became controversial because some members of the public believed there was an attempt to criminalize the KPK.
Antasari Azhar died due to an illness he had suffered for a long time. This was stated by the deceased’s son-in-law, Ardiansyah.
The man born in Pangkal Pinang on March 18 1953 died at the age of 72 at his home in the Les Belles Mainsons E-10 Housing Complex, North Serpong District, South Tangerang City. The deceased died at 10.57 WIB.
