Molly McNearney admits that she and her family are no longer in touch with other members of their family who are supporters of Donald Trump.

In the podcast We Can Do Hard Things, McNearney, who is also one of the writers for Jimmy Kimmel Live, said that the decision made their children cry too.
“To me, those who voted for Trump means they didn’t vote for my husband, me and our family,” McNearney said as reported

McNearney, who also serves as one of the writers on Jimmy Kimmel Live, said “unfortunately, I lost relationships with people in my family because of Trump.”
He claims that he is actually very sympathetic to other members of his family who are Trump supporters.That’s because they are “deliberately fed misinformation every day.”
“But it really hurts me, because of the personal relationship that I have now where my husband is out there fighting this man [Trump],” she said.
Jimmy Kimmel’s show was stopped for a week after the presenter touched on the case of Charlie Kirk’s death in his monologue on September 15 2025.
He said the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement was trying to show off by proving that Kirk’s alleged killer, Tyler Robinson, was not one of them.
Kimmel also poked fun at Trump’s response to a journalist’s question about how he was mourning Kirk’s death.This angered Republican groups, including Donald Trump, which resulted in the event being stopped.
However, after various pressures and negotiations, Jimmy Kimmel made a comeback on September 23 2025 and immediately set a record.The episode scored 6.3 million viewers and became the most-watched regularly scheduled episode of all time.

The comeback was an emotional moment for Jimmy Kimmel.He even sobbed when he emphasized that he never intended to denigrate the death of the loyalist of United States President Donald Trump.
“I never intended to make light of the murder of a young man. I don’t think there’s anything funny about that,” said Jimmy Kimmel in his monologue.
“I posted a message on Instagram the day he was killed, sending love to his family and asking for mercy, and I meant it,” he continued.
