In the incident where a motorbike and car were hit by a train in Sleman, so far three victims have died and four have been treated in hospital.The incident occurred when the train crossing gate did not close.
Responding to this, PT KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta investigated the suspicion that the door latch was not closed when Train (KA) 161 Bangunkarta passed through that location.

Based on a number of videos of the incident circulating, residents could be heard asking why the door latch was not down or closed when the Bangunkarta train passed.
A witness also claimed to have seen the crossing gate open when the Bangunkarta train passed.A number of motorized vehicles can still cross the tracks before being hit by the train.
“For the complete chronology and also the cause, we are still waiting for an official investigation, we will inform you later. We still urge the public to be alert and careful when crossing level crossings,” said KAI Daop 6 Yogya Public Relations Manager, Feni Novida Saragih in her video statement, Tuesday.
Representing PT KAI, Feni expressed his apologies and condolences for this incident.His party is now focusing on handling and assisting victims.
Feni also ensured that no Bangunkarta train passengers or crew were injured as a result of this incident.It was also reported that trains could resume their journey after going through an inspection process.
Victim details
Regarding the accident, previously Prambanan Police Chief Commissioner Dede Setyarto said the injured victims were the driver and three passengers in a passing Calya car.Meanwhile, the victim who died was a resident who was riding a motorbike.
“There were three people who died, all of them were motorbike riders, two motorbikes, one riding a pillion. There were a total of seven victims, three died, four were treated in hospital,” said Dede.
The injured victims who were the driver and passenger of the car, he said, were now being treated at two different hospitals.
The accident itself, according to the police, occurred at around 10.00 WIB.From PT KAI Daop 6 Jogja, the train was recorded at 10.35 WIB.
Dede explained that the incident occurred when a train traveling from east to west was hit by a motorized vehicle that was crossing the railroad crossing.
“The initial information based on the video I received was that the truck first crossed the train tracks, then was followed by a red car (Calya), the victim was the red car behind,” said Dede.
In this case, Dede also said that the police were investigating the condition of the crossing gates, whether they were closed or not when the accident occurred.
“What is certain is that we are still investigating the process of whether the position of the crossbar is closed or not,” said Dede.
