Timur Kapadze, former coach of the Uzbekistan national team, was asked about potential
Indonesian National Team
in the 2030 World Cup Qualifiers.
“Now you could say that Indonesia is close to qualifying for [the 2026 World Cup] which means their preparations are good,” said Kapadze about the Indonesian National Team at Istiqlal, Friday (21/11).
“Because [currently the Indonesian squad] has a lot of young players, by 2030 they will reach their optimal age. So I am optimistic that with their age development they can reach their maximum.”

In the 2026 World Cup Qualifications, Indonesia’s progress stopped in the fourth round.However, the Indonesian squad contains many players under 25 years of age.
According to Kapadze, playing minutes in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, against strong teams, has had a positive impact on the players.This is capital to look forward to the next qualification.
“There are no unimportant matches. What is certain is that the target for the national team is to win. Not just participation. With the ambition to win, the players’ enthusiasm will be high,” he said.
Kapadze came to Indonesia to fulfill an invitation from a tourism agency.He was appointed as Indonesia’s tourism ambassador in his home country, Uzbekistan.
Incidentally, Kapadze’s name is currently being linked as a potential coach for the Indonesian National Team.This 44 year old man is considered suitable to be the architect of the Garuda team.
Regarding rumors of coaching the Indonesian National Team, Kapadze admitted that he had an interest.However, there has been no official offer from PSSI.So far PSSI has only communicated normatively.
