After Bandung, similar programs have been running in Bali, Yogyakarta, Solo and Medan, and will soon be implemented in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).Korlantas is targeting the expansion of this system in various big cities and strategic locations throughout Indonesia.
Agus explained that installing AI-based CCTV is an important part of realizing the ‘Smart City’ concept (
Smart Cities
) and improve safety, order and smooth traffic.
He stated that the application of AI technology in the traffic sector was an important milestone for the National Police in strengthening digital-based public services.
Agus revealed that the AI CCTV system is capable of analyzing traffic density, detecting potential congestion, as well as identifying violations and security disturbances at the same time (
real-time
).
Apart from that, there is a Traffic Security and Traffic Security Vulnerability Data Mapping System which helps with data-based predictions and decision making.
“This service is connected to the 110 Polri system. In the future, we will expand its integration with public security services belonging to the Bandung City Government and the Bandung Police,” explained Agus.
“Regional government CCTV integration is part of Korlantas’ commitment to support SPBE and share resources for excellent service to the community,” he continued.
Kakorlantas also ensures that this system is continuously updated so that traffic parameters such as the normal number of vehicles on weekends or accident-prone points can be monitored accurately.
Currently, he continued, around 200 AI-based CCTV cameras have been integrated into the Smart City Bandung system, and in the future they will be expanded so they can be connected directly to the ETLE (Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement) system.
“Our policy is that 95 percent of law enforcement is carried out through ETLE and only 5 percent manually. With the presence of cameras and this smart city, we urge the people of Bandung to be orderly in traffic – use helmets, obey the rules, and maintain mutual safety,” he stressed.
With this system, Agus claims he can help investigate crimes.
“For example, in the case of a body being found or a crime, this system can detect anyone who was at the location via CCTV footage. This really helps the investigation process and maintains city security,” he explained.
