Bali Governor Wayan Koster will dismantle the glass elevator construction in
Kelingking Beach
, Nusa Penida, to be replaced with stairs.
The demolition was carried out because the construction of the elevator, apart from being in conflict with the spatial plan, was also indicated as violating land permits.
This was conveyed by Koster at the Plenary Meeting of the Bali Provincial DPRD at Wisma Sabha, Monday (1/12).

“We agree with the Special Committee and we carry it out with discipline and a full sense of responsibility, also based on noble intentions, that’s why we have issued a decision to carry out the demolition by the party who built it here,” said Koster.
He said the demolition was carried out within 6 months. Then, after being dismantled, space restoration will be carried out within 3 months.
Koster said that the construction of the lift at Kelingking Beach was allegedly taking up state land.
“Building is not within their rights. This is owned by the state and there is no recommendation from anyone. There is no permission from anyone, from the center or from the province. What does that mean? Please translate it yourself,” he said.
On the same occasion Koster denied the notion that the Provincial Government did not support the progress of Nusa Penida because it prohibited the lift project at Kelingking Beach.
Koster Clarification, Nusa Penida is a sacred place, so construction must be done carefully.
“There is an issue about Nusa Penida, it can’t progress, other places (in Bali) can progress. This is not a problem like that, we understand that Nusa Penida is the diamond of Bali, the diamond of Indonesia. We have to organize it very well, especially as this place is a very sacred place, not an ordinary place,” said Koster.
“The dry land here is different from the dry land in Kubu. This place is sacred, be careful,” he added.
Koster said development in Nusa Penida is allowed as long as the layout is correct.Development must also meet the requirements of an Environmental Impact Analysis (Amdal).
Then, regarding the wishes of a number of residents for the glass lift project to continue, Koster confirmed that the project would still be stopped.
He also revealed that instead of the lift project, the Regent of Klungkung offered natural stair infrastructure to Kelingking Beach.
“There is a very good concept that the Regent has. He maintains nature, does not destroy nature, he sticks to it. The traditional road is laid out with very nice stairs made from natural materials, if that is good,” he said.
Previously, Bali Governor I Wayan Koster instructed the demolition of the glass lift project at Kelingking Beach, Nusa Penida District, Klungkung Regency, Bali.
Governor Koster said that the decision of the Governor of Bali and the Regent of Klungkung took into account five types of very serious violations and took into account the future of Bali.
Koster emphasized that Bali’s tourism industry must be culture-based, quality and dignified.
“Ordered PT Indonesia Kaishi Tourism Property Investment Development Group (PT Bina Nusa Property), to stop all glass viewing platform construction activities, to carry out the demolition independently within a maximum of 6 months,” said Koster during a press conference at the Bali Governor’s Office, Denpasar, Sunday (23/11).
