Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) Commissioner Ai Maryati Solihah said child kidnapping cases in Indonesia were an iceberg phenomenon.
Ai said KPAI recorded that from 2021 to 2024 there were 138 cases of kidnapping, including child trafficking.
“Well, this is the tip of the iceberg because if in our report it is from the last 3 years, up to 2024, that means from 2021, there were 138 cases of the type of trafficking, kidnapping, so that’s it. So it’s varied in this case.
missing, exploiting,
and

He conveyed this while also responding to the kidnapping case of a child named Bilqis from Makassar who was kidnapped and only found six days later in Jambi.
Ai also admitted that he was concerned about the increasing number of child kidnapping cases.
“It’s still not clear where Alvaro is, and it’s been a long time, almost a month. Well, this is also our concern, there’s Bilqis, who else was there yesterday in Tangerang City? I also got a report, but they’ve been found, yes, three days if I’m not mistaken,” he said.
Apart from that, Ai also highlighted cases of selling toddlers using the adoption method which has mushroomed on social media recently.
He asked the Ministry of Communications and Digital to take firm action against this mode of crime.
“Every digital platform has a room for complaints. Well, these are the complaints that are not followed up by the platform. This is also a big note, for us, KPAI, which so far has been doing advocacy, yes, for child protection. That is also our evaluation,” he said.
Recently, the case of child kidnapping has become a sensation again following the disappearance of Bilqis in Makassar and she was found after almost a week in Jambi.
Bilqis is suspected of being a kidnapping victim who was sold to the Anak Dalam tribe in Jambi with fake letters.
He was first reported missing while playing in Pakui Park, Makassar, South Sulawesi, when his father was playing tennis, Sunday (2/11).
Bilqis was apparently kidnapped and sold and changed hands. The young child was sold for IDR 3 million to a woman from Jakarta, then sold again to a different person for IDR 30 million in Jambi, until finally sold again for IDR 80 million to the Anak Dalam Tribe.
The police have arrested SY (30), the woman who brought Bilqis from Makassar to Jakarta after paying Rp. 3 million.Someone from Jakarta with the initials NH (29) was then interested in buying it.
