Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Committee, Fitroh Rohcahyanto, said that Indonesia had lost a strong figure in its work to eradicate corruption.

“Innalillahi wa innalillahirojiun. Indonesia has lost a tough figure who had a strong commitment to eradicating corruption,” said Fitroh when confirmed via written message, Saturday (8/11).
“Hopefully the deceased’s deeds of worship will be accepted by Allah SWT and the family left behind will be given patience,” he continued.
Fitroh said that he was currently on his way to the funeral home to mourn.

Separately, former KPK investigator who is currently the Chair of the Southeast Asia Anti-Corruption Syndicate (SEA Actions) M. Praswad Nugraha said that currently fellow investigators and former investigators are heading to the funeral home to pay their respects.
Praswad received information that Antasari had suffered from illness and was being treated at the hospital.
Two KPK investigators confirmed that they had received information about the sad news.Based on information from both of them, several KPK employees and structural officials will visit the funeral home.
Antasari is a graduate of the Faculty of Law at Sriwijaya University and served as Head of Corruption Investigations at the Lampung High Prosecutor’s Office (1992-1994) and Head of the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office (2000-2007).
Antasari had a brush with the law and was sentenced to 18 years in prison in 2010 for the alleged murder of the Director of PT Putra Rajawali Banjaran, Nasrudin Zulkarnaen.Antasari often denies these accusations.
In 2017, Antasari received pardon from the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo so he could end his sentence more quickly.
