The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested
Riau Governor Abdul Wahid
in Hand Capture Operations (OTT) in the Riau region to Jakarta, Monday (3/11).
A total of 10 people caught in the OTT KPK were flown from Riau to Jakarta, on Tuesday (4/11).
They were immediately taken by investigators to the examination room on the 2nd floor of the KPK’s Red and White Building and questioned intensively after their arrest.

“The parties who have been arrested and taken to the Red and White House are currently undergoing intensive examination,” said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo in a written statement, Tuesday.

“So the total number of people currently being examined by investigators is 10 people,” he said.
Riau Governor Arrested in Cafe with Trustees
Budi explained that Abdul Wahid and Tata Maulana, who were his trusted people, were arrested at a cafe in Riau.
He said the arrest was made after investigators previously did not know the whereabouts of the Governor of Riau.
“Regarding AW’s brother, who is a regional head or governor, the team conducted a search and chase and then arrested him at a cafe located in Riau,” he explained.
PUPR Service Budget Extortion Mode
The Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) said that the case involving the Governor of Riau was an alleged extortion with budget sources coming from the PUPR-PKPP Service.
“This alleged criminal act of corruption is an alleged act of extortion related to the budget at the PUPR Service,” he said.
Not the First Time
Budi added that the IDR 1.6 billion found by investigators was not the first time the Governor of Riau had received it.Abdul Wahid is suspected of having received some money before the arrest was made.
“The money (Rp. 1.6 billion) is suspected to be part of some handovers to regional heads. This means that this arrest activity is part of several or many previous handovers,” he explained.

Apart from that, the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) also revealed thugs’ quota practices in cases of alleged extortion carried out by the Governor of Riau and a number of other officials.
“Regarding the increase in the budget at the PUPR Service, then there is a kind of japrem or preman quota of a percentage for regional heads. Those are the methods,” he concluded.
