Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (

) issued a circular containing a statement that
Yahya Cholil Staquf
or Gus Yahya no longer has the status of General Chair.This latest circular bears the electronic signatures of Deputy Rais Aam Afifuddin Muhajir and Katib Ahmad Tajul Mafakhir.
The circular letter was a follow-up to the daily Syuriyah meeting of the PBNU on November 20 in Jakarta which asked Gus Yahya to step down from the chair of general chairman within three days of receiving the decision of the daily Syuriyah meeting.If he does not resign within three days, the PBNU Syuriyah daily meeting decides to dismiss Yahya Cholil Staquf.
The latest circular regarding the status of Gus Yahya’s position at PBNU came out after the three-day deadline had passed.In the first point of the circular it was stated that Deputy Rais Aam Afifuddin Muhajir had directly given the PBNU Syuriyah daily minutes to Gus Yahya.

The document was given by Afifuddin to Gus Yahya on November 21 in room 209 of the Mercure Ancol Hotel.However, Gus Yahya is said to have handed back the Minutes of the Meeting to KH.Afifuddin.
Then in point two it is stated that Gus Yahya on November 23 had read the results of the PBNU Syuriyah minutes.
“That based on the considerations as referred to in point 2 above, KH. Yahya Cholil Staquf will no longer have the status as General Chair of PBNU as of November 26 2025 at 00.45 WIB,” reads point 3 of the circular letter.
In the next point it is stated that Yahya Cholil Staquf no longer has the authority and right to use the attributes, facilities and/or things attached to the position of General Chair of PBNU.
Then Gus Yahya also does not have the authority and right to act on behalf of the Nahdlatul Ulama Association as of November 26 at 00.45 WIB.
The next point orders the management to hold a plenary meeting to follow up on the replacement of the PBNU management.
Then in the closing section it is stated that as long as the position of general chairman of PBNU is vacant, the leadership of PBNU is completely in the hands of Rais Aam as the highest leader of Nahdlatul Ulama.
“In the event that KH. Yahya Cholil Staquf has objections to the decision, he can exercise the right to submit a request to the Nahdlatul Ulama Tahkim Council in accordance with the mechanism regulated in the Nahdlatul Ulama Association Regulation Number 14 of 2025 concerning Settlement of Internal Disputes,” said the closing part of the circular.
Ahmad Tajul Mafakhir confirmed the circular.”It is true that the letter was from Syuriyah PBNU,” Ahmad Tajul said

“As Head of the PBNU, I signed the Circular Letter together with Deputy Rais Aam, KH. Afifuddin Muhajir regarding what was written in the letter. It’s not a letter of dismissal, yes. It’s in a different form,” he said again.
He said the circular letter was a follow-up to the Syuriyah Daily Meeting Minutes.
“The minutes confirm the decision made by the highest authority at PBNU, Syuriyah, which gave Gus Yahya time to step down or be pushed back after 3×24 hours from the time the minutes were received,” he said.
Ahmad Tajul stated that when the deadline for a request to withdraw is exceeded, the second option that applies is the second option that automatically applies.

If he does not resign within 3 (three) days, the PBNU Syuriyah Daily Meeting decides to dismiss KH Yahya Cholil Staquf as General Chair of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board

“That’s why this Circular was written,” said Ahmad Tajul.”There was no other official letter regarding dismissal before the Plenary Meeting,” he added.
There has been no statement from Gus Yahya regarding this circular.hitclubapk3 Indonesia is still trying to contact Gus Yahya to confirm this circular.
Meanwhile, PBNU Chairman Savic Ali said that the PBNU AD/ART cannot fire the PBNU General Chair.According to him, the only person who can dismiss the PBNU Chairman is the congress.
“As far as I have read the AD/ART, Syuriah cannot fire the General Chairperson of Tanfidziyah. It must go through a Congress, which in this case is an Extraordinary Congress,” said Savic.
He regretted Rais Aam’s insistence on firing Gus Yahya because so far there has been no forum that has given Gus Yahya the opportunity to answer what he considers problematic.
“There were several administrators who knew about the problem and were ready to be called to provide an explanation but were not called,” he said.
