James confirmed that his company was not the owner of the land.Therefore, he emphasized that Lippo was not involved in the land dispute.
“The land is not owned by Lippo. So it has nothing to do with Lippo. So we have no comment,” said James when met at the Wisma Mandiri 2 Building, Jakarta, Monday (10/11).

James admitted that Lippo was indeed one of the shareholders of PT Gowa Makassar Tourism Development (GMTD).The company is one of the parties in the 16.4 hectare land dispute in Makassar.
“The land is owned by a local government company in the area called PT GMTD, which is a public company, where Lippo is one of the shareholders,” said James.
Previously, 16.4 hectares of land in Tanjung Bunga, Makassar became the public spotlight after the 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla (JK) expressed his frustration.
He felt that his company had the rights to the land, but it had been taken over by another party.JK also accused Lippo of being involved in taking the land.
ATR/BPN Minister Nusron Wahid’s 16.4-acre land case in the Tanjung Bunga area, Makassar is an old case whose roots stretch back decades before his leadership at ATR/BPN.
The dispute involves a number of parties starting from PT Hadji Kalla, PT Gowa Makassar Tourism Development (GMTD) which is affiliated with the Lippo Group, as well as Mulyono and Manyombalang Dg.Solong.
“This case is a product of the 1990s. In fact, it has now been revealed because we are improving and reorganizing the land system to make it more transparent and orderly,” said Nusron in Jakarta in an official statement, Sunday (9/11).
