Singapore is certain to qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup after making a comeback with a 2-1 win over Hong Kong in the fifth match in Group C, Tuesday (18/11).
In the match at Kai Tak Stadium, Hong Kong took the lead through Matt Orr’s goal in the 15th minute.However, Singapore responded in the second half with goals from Shawal Anuar (64′) and Ilhan Fandi (68′).

With one match remaining in the group stage, Singapore was declared qualified for the 2027 Asian Cup after collecting 11 points.
Singapore is the 20th team to qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup finals. The team nicknamed The Lions is the second team to qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup through the qualification route after Syria.
The remaining teams, most of the countries that will play in the 2027 Asian Cup, have qualified because of their host status, Saudi Arabia, and have moved on to the third round of 2026 World Cup Qualification.
The national teams of Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, North Korea, Bahrain, Jordan, Palestine, Japan, South Korea, Qatar, Uzbekistan and Australia are examples of teams that will go to the 2027 Asian Cup after qualifying for the third round of 2026 World Cup qualification.
