Two social media accounts on TikTok and Facebook are in Mahfud’s name and claim to be distributing money looted from corruption.On Facebook, the account uses the name Dr.H. Mohammad Mahfud MD and TikTok: @prof_mahfud (Prof Mahfud MD).
However, recently, the case has now entered the realm of law.Volunteer Friends of Mahfud reported Mahfud’s hoax video to Bareskrim on Monday (10/11).

“We deliberately reported this incident so that the perpetrators would be deterred and cases like this would not happen again. Many people have been deceived,” said the National Coordinator for Friends of Mahfud, Imam Marsudi.
Imam said that as a result of the AI video, his party was contacted by many residents who asked for assistance of up to hundreds of millions for business capital.They believe that Mahfud is distributing money stolen from corruption through the narration in the AI video.
“Many believe that Mahfud MD opened a competition for aid for business and education. Even though that is absolutely not true,” stressed Imam.
The legal team of Mahfud’s friends, Duke Ari Widagdo, threatened the perpetrator who made the video with Article 28 paragraph (1) of Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (UU ITE).
“Anyone who deliberately spreads false or misleading news to the detriment of other people can be sentenced to six years in prison and/or a fine of IDR 1 billion,” explained Duke.
However, Duke completely handed over the legal process to Bareskrim investigators to determine the most appropriate article.
“We hope that the perpetrator will be caught soon, so that there will be a deterrent effect and the public will know that the video is fake or a hoax,” he added.
