Mali Coach: Indonesia U-23 Has a Chance to Win the 2025 SEA Games

have the opportunity to win the 2025 SEA Games.
Diawara expressed this opinion after the second trial match between Mali U-23 and Indonesia U-23 which ended in a 2-2 draw at Pakansari Stadium, Cibinong, on Tuesday (18/11) evening.
“I don’t know about other countries. Thailand, Vietnam. I don’t know, but I know one thing. Indonesia is a good team, a good coach. The players are smart,” said Diawara when asked about the chances of the Indonesian U-23 National Team at the 2025 SEA Games.

Diawara also emphasized the quality of Indonesian players who he considered to have great potential.
“They are very good players. They have to focus to play well in the competition,” said Diawara.
Apart from the quality of the players, Diawara also appreciated the extraordinary support from Indonesian supporters which is considered very important for player motivation.
“You have amazing fans in the stadium. It’s very important for the players, for the team, to feel that support in the stadium,” Diawara said.
Even though Diawara does not know the strength of the other teams, he reiterated his confidence in Indonesia.
“I don’t know other teams, other countries. But Indonesia, I repeat, I think they have a good chance to appear competitive,” Diawara added.
The 2025 SEA Games football sport will be held in Thailand on 3-18 December, with Indonesia appearing as the defending champion after winning a gold medal at the 2023 SEA Games.
Currently, the U-23 Indonesian National Team is undergoing a training camp (TC) and a series of trials in preparation for facing the 2025 SEA Games. In the last two trial matches against Mali, Indonesia managed to draw 2-2 after previously losing 0-3 in the first trial.
The second match on Tuesday night was fierce.Mali took the lead through Sekou Kone’s goal in the 11th minute, before Indonesia equalized 1-1 through Mauro Zijlstra’s goal in the 38th minute.
In the second half, Indonesia took a 2-1 lead through Rafael Struick’s goal in the 52nd minute.However, Mali equalized 2-2 again through Kone’s second goal in the 70th minute until the match ended.
