Mamdani-Rama Duwaji Love Story, First Meeting on the Hinge Dating Application

and his wife, Rama Duwaji, a Syrian-American multimedia artist, first met on the dating app Hinge several years ago.

About six weeks ago, Mamdani posted several photos showing the couple getting married at the city clerk’s office.
The main photo is a black-and-white photo in the New York subway, specifically at Union Square in Manhattan.
Duwaji wore a white dress and black boots while holding a bouquet of flowers, while the other passengers were busy with their own affairs.
In the accompanying text, Mamdani referred to online harassment the couple had experienced.
“If you look at Twitter today, or any other day, you know how cruel politics can be,” he wrote.
“Usually I ignore it, whether it’s death threats or calls for me to be deported. But it’s different when it comes to people we care about. Three months ago, I married the love of my life, Rama, at the City Clerk’s office.”
“Rama is not just my wife. She is an extraordinary artist who deserves to be known in her own right. You can criticize my views, but not my family,” he wrote again.
Meanwhile photographer Kara McCurdy shared photos of Mamdani and Duwaji’s wedding day earlier this year.
“I already knew [Mamdani] was going to marry Rama, and I was there, at the registry office with them. The three of us took the train from Astoria to City Hall on a rainy day a few months ago, and I had the opportunity to celebrate two of my favorite people finally officially getting married,” McCurdy wrote on his website, quoted

Months later, Duwaji stood under the bright lights of Brooklyn, proudly watching her husband deliver a victory speech after winning the election for mayor of New York City.
