Rini admitted that she had not had time to speak directly with Purbaya regarding problems at Customs.According to him, the State Treasurer still has several other agendas.
“I had planned to ask for time. However, he (Minister of Finance Purbaya) still had a lot of agenda to convey,” he said after the Press Conference on the Development of the OECD Accession Process at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, Central Jakarta, Thursday (11/12).

“Of course I have to see whether the institution or system really needs to be improved, then we’ll talk about the person. So, I haven’t had any discussions with him (Purbaya),” he continued.
On the other hand, Rini touched on the opportunity for transfer or rotation of 16 thousand employees of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance.He emphasized that these things are commonplace in bureaucracy.
Rini even gave an example that some of her subordinates at the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform are also staffed with civil servants from the Ministry of Finance.
“When it comes to transfers and rotations, that’s normal, yes. But of course government affairs must still be carried out. Customs and Excise have government functions, so of course those must be carried out by civil servants,” he stressed.
Purbaya first announced to the public the plan to freeze Customs Excise on Thursday (27/11).He said the directorate’s image was bad from all angles, both in the media, in society, even in the eyes of President Prabowo Subianto.
Therefore, Purbaya asked Prabowo for permission to fix the problems at the agency.The State Treasurer has set the time limit for a year, aka until 2026.
The Minister of Finance did not hesitate to replace the functions and duties of Customs and Excise with Suisse Generale Surveillance or SGS3.This happened in 1985, aka during the era of the 2nd President Soeharto, at which time all Customs and Excise employees were laid off due to crazy corruption.
“Let me, give me time to improve Customs and Excise. Because the threat is serious, if Customs and Excise cannot improve its performance and the public is still dissatisfied, Customs and Excise can be frozen,” said Purbaya after a Working Meeting (Raker) with Commission XI DPR RI in Central Jakarta.
