Indonesian women’s singles coach, Imam Tohari delivered a message to the athletes appearing in the women’s badminton team final

The Indonesian women’s team advanced to the final and will compete for gold against Thailand.Facing the host, Imam Tohari was wary of the dominance of those who ‘owned’ the territory.
“Against Thailand tomorrow in the final, we know the opponents too. There are Pornpawee, Ratchanok and Supanida. Quite strong but this is a team match, I hope that in the first singles and second singles, whoever is fielded can take points for the team,” said Imam in a written statement from PBSI, Tuesday (9/12).
Imam conveyed optimism ahead of the final match.The training program combined with intensive communication was maximized to achieve gold for Merah Putih.

“From their readiness, today after training I think it’s very good. The conditions are okay. Later we will also have another gathering to discuss who is ready to be deployed. Those who are mentally prepared must be brave,” he said.
Furthermore, Imam also commented on the performance of the three women’s singles athletes who will appear in the final.He believes that Putri Kusuma Wadhani, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, and Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari have their own records.
“Evaluation of yesterday’s semi-final match, the first singles, I saw that Putri played more freely than in the first. I hope that in the final and in the following, she can be consistent, she can be loose, she can enjoy the game. I’m sure that if she can control her mind, her best game will definitely come out,” he said.
“For Grego, it was a shame that he let go in the first game. His focus and concentration were lost and he couldn’t come back in a situation like that. For Mutiara, previously she had won at the Indonesia International Challenge in Yogyakarta. Putting Mutiara down one, automatically her own children will also become confident. Hopefully these young women’s singles can show off, not just Mutiara,” he stressed.
