“We named the suspect AA based on sufficient initial evidence and also the results of the crime scene investigation. Of course we will carry out this determination,” said Buleleng Police Head of Traffic, AKP Bachtiar Arifin, Tuesday (25/11).
The driver was declared a suspect because he was deemed to have been negligent in causing the accident.

“Yes, while our initial conclusion is that it was due to negligence on the part of the driver. While we are also completing it with regard to the data as well as the facts and statements of the witnesses that we are examining,” he added.
After being named a suspect, the driver was immediately detained at the Buleleng Police Detention Center.The police are now completing the case file by examining additional witnesses and expert witnesses.
“The suspect has been identified and we have detained him. We are still providing witnesses and expert witnesses to complete this file,” he said.
The expert witnesses in question include vehicle experts from the manufacturer or brand holder agent (ATPM), who will examine the technical aspects of the vehicle.
Then, for the five Chinese foreign victims, three victims will be repatriated to their home countries.
Meanwhile, the other two bodies will be cremated on the island of Bali, and all the bodies have previously been moved from the Buleleng District Hospital to the Bali Mandara Hospital in Denpasar City.The transfer is to simplify the administrative process and further handling.
The police charged the minibus driver with Article 311 and/or Article 310 paragraph 1, paragraph 2, and paragraph 4 of the road traffic and transportation law.
“The threat of punishment is six years in prison,” he said.
Previously, a minibus carrying a group of foreign tourists had an accident at Banjar Dinas Prabakula, Padang Bulia Village, Sukasada District, Buleleng Regency, Bali.
The Toyota Hiace minibus with number plate N 7605 TA carrying 13 tourists from China reportedly plunged into a garden ravine after losing control on Friday (14/11) at around 04.30 WITA.
The incident started when the car driven by Arif Al Akbar passed Jalan Singaraja -Denpasar KM 7,700 in the Banjar Dinas Prabukula area, Padang Bulia Village, Buleleng with the road conditions curving and descending.
Then at the crime scene, the vehicle could not be controlled until it entered the community’s garden and hit a tree and then bounced.
In that incident, the driver survived and suffered abrasions on his right leg and was not treated.Then the injured passengers were taken to Karya Dharma Husada Hospital, Singaraja, Buleleng.
