Currently it has reached 416 thousand people, with some of them able to earn an income of up to IDR 20 million per month.
This achievement is considered to be a positive signal for the regeneration of farmers in Indonesia.
“This got the MURI (award), namely there are 400 thousand millennials taking part now. Those who were judging, I was surprised to suddenly give the MURI award. This is a whip to jump again, and this is also a burden on the target of 1 million millennials in the future,” said Amran in a press conference at the Ministry of Agriculture Office, South Jakarta, Tuesday (16/12).

He explained that the award from the Indonesian Museum of World Records (MURI) was given because of the surge in the number of young farmers involved in the agricultural sector.Based on this assessment, the number of active millennial farmers was recorded as the largest.
“Because millennials (received awards), the largest number of young farmers was 416 thousand involved,” said Amran.
This achievement, according to Amran, has never happened before. He called the involvement of 416 thousand millennial farmers the highest record in history, even on a global scale.
“This is the highest in world history. I don’t understand suddenly being given it,” he said.
Amran assesses that the involvement of hundreds of thousands of young farmers shows changes in the attitude of the millennial generation towards the agricultural sector. If previously agriculture was often considered less attractive, now more and more young people are getting involved directly.
“This is what is important, in the past millennials were reluctant to enter agriculture, but now 416 thousand are joining. Millennials. So our movement, the Food Brigade, is in Subang this year alone. We are programming 45 thousand. So we continue to encourage it. The total is 416 thousand,” he explained.
According to Amran, this trend is a good sign for the future of national food security.
Regarding income, Amran said that a number of millennial farmers had provided testimonials regarding the income they earned from various regions.
“The testimony in Papua is IDR 20 million net per month. East Kalimantan IDR 24 million. Aceh IDR 20 million. Millennials, yes,” said Amran.
He added that the commodities managed by millennial farmers are varied, including the plantation, horticulture and food sectors.
“Various kinds. Plantation, horticulture, then food,” he concluded.
