Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono invited the Indonesian Muslim Scholars Association (ICMI) to support the Red and White Village/Kelurahan Cooperative program.According to him, ICMI has a strategic role in providing scientific views, coaching and intellectual networking.
Ferry said this when he was a resource person at the National Leadership Camp event with the theme “Strengthening the Role of Muslim Scholars to Create a Golden Indonesia” held by the Indonesian Muslim Scholars Association (ICMI), in Bali, Saturday (6/12)
In a written statement from the Ministry of Cooperatives, Ferry said that cooperatives are a constitutional mandate and the foundation of the people’s economy which is now being strengthened through the Kopdes program or Red and White Village Cooperative.According to him, this government’s flagship program is a new ecosystem that cuts supply chains, provides business services in villages, and involves millions of members.

“ICMI’s support is to ensure that the people’s economic movement is more focused and sustainable, so that the benefits are truly felt by the community,” said Ferry.
He also invited ICMI to take the opportunity and utilize this momentum to strengthen the people’s economy in the future.Next year, according to him, there will be more than 80 thousand modern retail outlets managed by Kopdes Merah Putih.
“This means that we must be able to produce our own goods to be sold in modern retailers owned by Kopdes Merah Putih,” he said.
For Ferry, this is a golden opportunity to encourage cooperative communities to return to the production sector.”Back to the distribution sector, industry and credit sector,” he said.
Ferrry hopes that ICMI can build cooperatives or encourage MSMEs within the ICMI extended family to start building soap, detergent, shampoo, soy sauce and other daily necessities factories.
“Whatever the factory, also small industry, and in the form of cooperatives, we will support it,” said Ferry.
He said MSMEs don’t need to worry because their products will be sold at Kopdes.
According to him, Indonesia must regain its confidence to become a producer.
“The Ministry of Cooperatives will support 100% if anyone wants to become a producer, factory, goods, especially in the form of a cooperative business entity, we will finance it,” he said.
Ferry also said he would encourage state and private universities to start making and creating post-harvest machines,

, temperature control device for fruits and vegetables,
cold storage
, and so on.
