According to him, the government together with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) have signed an agreement regarding combined benefits between BPJS and private insurance companies.
This step, said Budi, aims to ensure that BPJS Health finances can remain sustainable and focus on services to the wider community, especially low-income communities who need it most.

“We will change the reference to competency-based, in order to save BPJS too,” said Budi.
He gave the example of patients with emergency conditions such as heart attacks who need quick treatment.Patients often have to go through several referral stages starting from the community health center, type C hospital, then type B, before finally being treated at a type A hospital.
