“Yes, we are trying to provide incentives, but we have to discuss this,” he explained.
Providing incentives was first implemented in internship programs in the country. The pocket money incentive is given for six months and the nominal depends on the district and city minimum wages (UMK) in Indonesia
Currently, the Indonesian government is working with a number of countries to ensure that there are more apprentices abroad. Some of the destination countries for internships are Japan, South Korea, Australia, and several countries in Europe.
“Indeed, they like workers from Indonesia who do internships or work abroad (in other countries) because they are polite people who are ready to work and so on,” he said
Yassierli reminded people who are interested in doing internships abroad to prepare their language skills.
“First of all, language is more important, we can prepare other fields, it takes a long time in language,” he said.
Yassierli explained that the overseas apprenticeship program was part of the government’s efforts to expand employment opportunities and improve the quality of Indonesia’s human resources.
“Today we are sending off 2,183 national ambassadors to Japan. Your faces are the faces of Indonesia’s successful future,” he said.
These interns will mostly be placed in hospitality, food processing, agriculture and construction. “Earlier I also checked that they were placed in various provinces in Japan,” he said.
Furthermore, Yassierli emphasized the importance of the STAR attitude for apprentices, namely Polite, Tough, Adaptive and Diligent.
“Politeness and friendliness are characteristics of the Indonesian people. In Japan, you have to be tough, not give up easily, adapt to new environments, and be diligent in learning new things,” he advised.
