This movement, continued Ferry, emphasizes the role of cooperatives not only as business entities, but as pillars of social and economic resilience in society, especially in facing crisis and disaster situations.
Assistance from the Ministry of Cooperatives was given symbolically to representatives of each province. In detail, the value is IDR 1,648,029,034.
Apart from cash assistance, the Ministry of Cooperatives also sent several items such as clean water distillers for access to water fit for consumption, mobile toilets, toiletries, children’s toys, as well as several needs for communities affected by the disaster.
“The Disaster Care Cooperative Movement has collected donations of IDR 1.64 billion from cooperatives in Indonesia and the extended family of the Ministry of Cooperatives,” he explained.
Ferry emphasized that he also continues to coordinate with the TNI to be able to save goods in village cooperatives in the three provinces. If anything can be saved, these items can be sold and become additional post-disaster funds.
“For example, there is a cooperative in Bener Meriah Regency, there is 200 tons of coffee which we are currently sending a letter to the Commander in Chief to use an Air Force plane to transport the coffee for us to store, then sell to help them,” he concluded.
