Private Airports are suspected to be illegal.
Deputy Minister of Transportation (Wamenhub) Suntana said that IMIP Airport already has a permit and is registered as a special airport with the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).
“It’s registered, it’s already registered. It’s impossible for the airport not to be registered. So it already has permission from the state and indeed there is a way to control it,” said Suntana when met at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (26/11), quoted from

Furthermore, Suntana also denied reports that there were no security officers from the state at IMIP airport, which resulted in no supervision from the state.
He said that his party continues to monitor airport operations and there are security forces from across sectors stationed there.
“Regarding Morowali, yesterday we deployed several personnel, from Customs and Excise, the Police, from the Ministry of Transportation itself, there are airport authorities there. So we have gone there,” he added.
Previously, the PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) Special Airport or IMIP Private Airport was in the spotlight after the Minister of Defense, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, said that there were airports in Indonesia that had no state apparatus at all.
PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) has opened its voice regarding the management of its airport located in Morowali, Central Sulawesi.
Head of Media Relations PT IMIP Dedi Kurniawan said the airport was officially registered with the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).
“IMIP Special Airport is registered with the Ministry of Transportation, whose management is regulated by Law No. 1/2009 concerning Aviation,” said Dedy in his statement, Wednesday (26/11).
Even so, Dedy was reluctant to explain further and suggested asking the authorities for further inquiries.
“Regarding this, we advise media partners to confirm this with the Makassar Region 5 Airport Authority Agency as the supervisor of Imip airport operations,” he said.
