RI, Surono, said that his party would announce the number of Indonesian athletes at the 2025 SEA Games next week.
Surono said that the Review Team would meet with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and sports administrators to confirm the number of participants.After that, certainty can be conveyed to the public.
“Next week there will be a meeting between the Sports Management and the Review Team. Later the Review Team will meet with the Ministry of Youth and Sports together with the Minister, the Deputy Minister, the Assessment Team, and from there we will be able to find out [the number of athletes] there,” said Surono at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Office, Jakarta, Thursday (6/11).

“Later the certainty will be determined through a plenary meeting attended by KONI and KOI. From there the exact number [of athletes] and the target [medals] set can be announced,” he added.
Surono also could not explain in more detail the number of sports that Indonesia would participate in.One thing that can be said is that the Red and White team lost 41 gold medals won at the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games, because many sports will not be contested again at the 2025 SEA Games.
At the 2023 Sea Games in Cambodia, Indonesia finished in third place by winning 87 gold medals.With the significant reduction in gold medals, Indonesia needs to find a solution so that it does not fall off the top medal table.
“We can have a chance because there are several sports that are still being contested with the potential for 32 gold medals. So at least, Indonesia can project 78 gold medals,” he said.
“But to be able to reach third place [in the medal standings]. There is a possibility of 13.84 percent to 15.90 percent that we can get it. This is what we are currently analyzing,” he added.
The 2025 SEA Games will take place on 9-20 December 2025. There are three cities that will be used to host it in Thailand, namely Bangkok, Chonburi and Songkhla.
