) signed a memorandum of understanding or MoU with the Ministry of Industry at the Ministry of Industry Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (25/11).This step was taken to improve the sports industry.
“Here we agree that the sports industry is what we must push forward. If the Minister of Industry says about industrial standardization, we talk about implementing it. This is our support for domestic industry or investors from abroad to build factories in Indonesia,” said Erick.
There are five important points that were discussed before the MoU was signed by both parties.The topics discussed are the sports equipment industry, sports clothing industry, sports shoes industry, Domestic Component Level Certificate (TKDN), and SNI.

“So, we were committed to raising the class of the industry. That’s why local brands are contributing so they can also make Indonesian athletes their advertising stars. So we want the industry to continue to grow,” said Erick.
In the future, Erick emphasized that he would lobby international bodies to support the sports industry in Indonesia.FIFA and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) are strategic objectives in this effort.
“Of course I will collaborate with NOC and all international federations to support our standards. One example is if you have a big event in Indonesia then use local brands here,” said Erick.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang, stated that his party wants to protect domestic industry.The sports sector is seen as one of the prospective sectors for improving the welfare of manufacturing.
“From the perspective of the Ministry of Industry, it is to expand domestic industry. Protecting and expanding means creating a workforce that is able to provide support for economic growth,” said Agus.
In his presentation, Agus explained that the sports equipment industry had increased in the last five years.In the period 2023 to 2024, recorded growth was 4.6 percent.
Furthermore, Agus revealed that Indonesia has great potential in exporting sports equipment.The United States is the highest recipient country for Indonesian production in this context.
“The main export destination countries are the United States with 47 percent, South Korea 9 percent, Japan 9 percent, the Netherlands 5 percent, and China 5 percent,” said Agus.
