This was revealed by the Main Director of the Jakarta Cempaka Putih Islamic Hospital, Pradono Handojo, when accompanying the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, at a press conference which took place on Saturday (8/11) afternoon.
Of the total 96 victims of the SMA 72 explosion, Pradono said that 2/3, or more than half, experienced hearing loss.

“Currently there are 29 patients who have gone home and currently there are 14 people in the room [inpatient room] and this morning the General [Kapolri] visited him,” said Pradono.
“We feel that physical recovery will occur quickly, because the children are still young. Except for the hearing area, around 2/3 have hearing loss,” he added.
Pradono then explained the importance of handling trauma healing for the victims of the SMA 72 explosion. The aim is to restore the victim’s psychology.
“But of course recovery after the body returns to normal is a big task for us together, namely psychological counseling and more importantly how to prevent this from happening again,” said Pradono.
On the same occasion, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo revealed that 96 people were victims of the explosion at SMA 72, Kelapa Gading, which occurred on Friday (7/11).A total of 29 victims are still undergoing treatment in hospital.
“From the initial number of 96 [victims], after the incident, currently there are 14 who are still being treated at the Islamic Hospital. Then at Yarsi [Hospital] there are 14. And there is another one at Pertamina Hospital. So the total who are still being treated is approximately 29 out of 96,” said Sigit.
Sigit also confirmed that his party would build a trauma healing center for students affected by the explosion at SMA 72 Jakarta.
“We are also building a trauma healing center which we will also prepare to provide services. We will collaborate of course with KPAI with the necessary psychologists,” said Sigit.
“So that then we can provide assistance related to complaints that we can provide trauma healing treatment for. Then later at school we will prepare,” he added.
