One resident reportedly died as a result
shot
perpetrator of motorbike theft in the Kampung Baru area, Cakung, East Jakarta on Saturday (8/11) at around 03.30 WIB.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for the East Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Dicky Fertoffan, said that the victim, a police officer named Atim Suhara (42), died after suffering a gunshot wound to the stomach.
The shooting occurred after the victim and a colleague caught and wanted to arrest the perpetrator of the motorbike theft, consisting of two people, while carrying out the action.

“Yes, he died,” said Dicky when contacted, Saturday (8/11).
Dicky said that his party is currently still carrying out investigations and has sent a team to arrest the perpetrator.
“We are still chasing the perpetrator,” he said.

Cakung Police Chief Commissioner Widodo Saputro explained that the incident occurred when the victim was on night patrol at RW 09. While monitoring CCTV, the victim and his colleague suspected that two people were allegedly hacking a motorbike.
“Then the victim, witness one and witness two went straight to the crime scene on a motorbike,” said Widodo.
Arriving at the location and seeing the perpetrator, the victim then crashed his motorbike into the perpetrator’s motorbike.They were involved in a clash and duel, but the perpetrator then took out a firearm and fired at the victim.
“There was a duel between the victim and the perpetrator. At that time there were two explosions. And the victim immediately fell. Witness one and witness two then secured themselves and asked residents for help,” he said.
In this incident, the police have secured a number of pieces of evidence, such as a motorbike belonging to a resident who was about to be hacked.
