Based on Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya’s notes at the meeting, the President highlighted the need for speed, accuracy and consistency of action from all elements of government to ensure safety and accelerate the recovery of residents affected by floods and landslides in Aceh and other areas of Sumatra.
“First, the importance of speed, accuracy and consistency of action from all government elements to ensure the safety and recovery of affected residents,” he said in an official statement from the Cabinet Secretariat in Jakarta, Monday (8/12).
He also emphasized that integrated operations between the TNI, Polri, Basarnas, BNPB and regional governments must continue to be strengthened. The most important thing, he said, was reopening lost regional connectivity and speeding up the distribution of aid.
Regarding the large number of residents’ houses damaged by flash floods, Prabowo said that rebuilding support would be a priority in the post-disaster recovery phase.
Even though a number of field challenges are still encountered due to natural conditions that must remain vigilant, the government is committed to carrying out the handling in a gradual, measurable and sustainable manner.
President Prabowo also requested that the management of aid distribution be carried out more carefully, especially ensuring the availability and timeliness of distribution of medicines as priority needs.
Apart from that, President Prabowo also highlighted the importance of providing clothing for affected residents, both through government programs and public participation in the form of donations of suitable clothing.
At the end of his briefing, Prabowo emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity and clean governance in the entire disaster management process.
He expressed his appreciation for the strong synergy between the central and regional governments, joint forces, volunteers and the community who are considered to be the main force in accelerating recovery in the affected areas.
“Thank you, I am proud of your dedication. Thank you,” said Prabowo.
