According to him, Ma’ruf resigned because of age considerations.He said Ma’ruf Amin wanted regeneration at MUI.

“The reason is because, first of all, Kiai Ma’ruf is already old, old, so there is a kind of regeneration, I think, which is very important in the organization, because Kiai Ma’ruf will give younger people leadership in the Advisory Council,” said Masduki in Central Jakarta, Wednesday (24/12)
Ma’ruf’s former spokesperson said that Ma’ruf wanted to leave or withdraw from the crowd after resigning.
Masduki said that before officially submitting his resignation letter, Ma’ruf had signaled that he wanted to resign when giving a speech at the MUI meeting.
He explained that MUI internally would discuss Ma’ruf’s resignation.
“Whether the resignation request is accepted or not depends on the existing mechanisms at the MUI and therefore this discussion will also take time,” he said.
Apart from resigning from the MUI, Ma’ruf is also known to have resigned from being chairman of the PKB Syuro Council.
PKB General Chair Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin said Ma’ruf had resigned a long time ago and had conveyed the decision to him.
