“(Refusing to vote is the same as) rejecting the progress of democracy,” he said, quoted by the

.
Hlaing’s statement also shows that the junta is gaining public support at a time when citizens are not interested in an election that is being labeled as just a formality.
Myanmar’s election law does not require a minimum number of voters, but the junta is eager to show the world that people are participating.
This voting was held in three stages on December 28, January 11 and February.
Hlaing only held elections after overthrowing the legitimate government in February 2021.
Former members of the legitimate government of President U Win Myint, State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, and former ministers remain behind bars in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, and Taungoo. Some of the other officials who were arrested even died.
Since the start of the coup, many Myanmar citizens have rejected Hlaing’s rule.He then responded with violence. As a result of this incident, tens of thousands of people died.
