National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the police were still continuing to collect information and evidence regarding the motive of the alleged perpetrator of the explosion.

“Yes, that’s one of the things we collected in relation to efforts to uncover the motive,” said Listyo Sigit in response to journalists’ questions regarding the possibility that the alleged perpetrator was a victim.

“This means that we will of course collect relevant information that supports our process to get a picture of the motive,” he added.
Listyo Sigit also emphasized that an official statement regarding the perpetrator’s motive would be provided after a complete case investigation process based on the facts and strong information.
“Once again we will officially release it. Because we are now in the stage of collecting existing information. Hopefully we can release it soon in the not too distant future,” said Listyo Sigit.
Sigit stated that currently there are 29 explosion victims being treated in a number of hospitals.
“Currently those being treated at Cikini Hospital 14, Yarsi 14, RSPP Pertamina 1. There are a total of 29 people,” said Listyo Sigit.
Previously, an explosion incident occurred at SMA 72 on Jalan Prihatin Number 87, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta on Friday afternoon.
A student at SMA 72, Kelapa Gading, Ilham (not his real name) said that a student suspected of being the perpetrator of the explosion was thought to be the victim of bullying.
“Yes, that’s right. He doesn’t seem mentally strong,” said Ilham at the location several hours after the explosion.
He explained that so far it is suspected that the perpetrator, who is in grade 12, is known to like to be alone and likes drawing things that have extremism nuances such as terrorists, the United States, and likes war videos.
“I often watch shootings like that,” said Ilham.
“The information came from a classmate. A close friend,” he said.
