General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said there were a number of saw marks on logs that were swept away by floods in Aceh, West Sumatra and North Sumatra.
Sigit said that the discovery of saw marks would later become the focus of the team’s investigation. He said that currently officers had been deployed to follow the river flow from upstream to downstream to see the location where the wood came from.
“From the team’s findings in the field, there were various types of wood, but we found that some had traces of chainsaw cuts. That’s what we will investigate,” he said at a press conference, Thursday (4/12).

“The team is going down together with a team from forestry to follow the affected river basin until we pull it upstream and downstream,” he added.
Furthermore, Sigit said that his party was also open to carrying out an investigation process with the Ministry of Forestry or the Forest Area Control Task Force (PKH).
“In the past few days we have deployed personnel and we will later join a team from the Ministry of Forestry and if necessary with other task forces who can join, including PKH, so that team work can be faster,” he said.

In West Sumatra, piles of logs fill the estuary and lip of Parkit Beach, Padang City.Apart from piles of wood, various rubbish was also seen piled up at the location.
Meanwhile in North Sumatra, the logs were carried away by flash floods in the South Tapanuli, Central Tapanuli to Sibolga areas.
