or Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) from the original 5 thousand devices in 2027, now accelerated to next year or 2026. Currently 1,641 units of this equipment are operating nationally.
“There are only 1,263 ETLEs in the Republic. I ask for 5,000 cameras by 2026,” said the National Police’s Head of Traffic Corps Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho in a statement quoting the Korlantas website, quoted Friday (7/11).

According to him, the use of digital technology such as ETLE cameras must be prioritized in enforcing traffic laws.In percentage terms, the police have carried out tickets via CCTV as much as 95 percent, while the remainder or five percent are still ticketed manually.
“We don’t have to and don’t be proud, we have to take a legal approach. But prioritize humanism, education, make road users aware of themselves. So it is managed well, they don’t have to be chased, the situation is different,” he said.

“Use the technology we have. We have static ETLE, we have handheld ETLE, mobile, we have mobile onboard, and we have portable. Including, if I’m not mistaken, there are already drones. Please develop this later. This technology is appropriate to the situation and conditions,” said Agus again.
Agus continued that his party always orders every member in the field to always serve society humanely in the modern era.
Apart from that, he admitted that he was not proud of enforcing the law, but always prioritized humanist and educational aspects for road users.
Korlantas Polri also claims that cases of death due to traffic accidents have been successfully reduced after the implementation of electronic ticketing or ETLE.
“It has been proven that in the first semester of 2025, the fatality rate will decrease by 19.8 percent. So, we can reduce almost 2,512 deaths,” said Agus, previously.
