Flash floods in the Nduga Regency area occurred on Saturday (1/11) at 17.00 local time, caused by high intensity rain in the upstream area.
Based on the extreme weather early warning issued by the relevant agencies, the Papua Mountains region has the potential to be hit by moderate to heavy rain in the period 4 to 6 November 2025.
On this basis, BNPB urges local governments to remain vigilant and ready to face potential extreme weather and prioritize security and safety in the search and evacuation process.
“People, especially those living in river basin areas, are asked to self-evacuate to a safer place if high-intensity rain lasts more than an hour, and to continue to follow official information from local authorities,” said Muhari.
