Netanyahu is the first Israeli prime minister to be tried on corruption charges.
The legal process, which began in 2019, recently required him to testify three times a week at trial.According to him, this hampers his ability to run the government effectively.
“This farce costs the country a huge amount,” he said.
“I can’t handle it… That’s why I’m asking for clemency.”
On Monday, before Netanyahu returned to court, a crowd with opposing views gathered outside the Tel Aviv courthouse.
Some demonstrators shouted support for the prime minister, while others protested against him, including demonstrators who wore prison-style orange jumpsuits to imply that he should be jailed.
