Saudi Arabia

Saudi itself has repeatedly said that it is willing to carry out normalization with Israel if Tel Aviv recognizes the Palestinian state in accordance with the two-state solution agreement.

In an interview with the Abu Ali Express channel quoted by Middle East Monitor, Netanyahu said on Thursday that establishing a Palestinian state “is not an option, even as part of efforts to achieve normalization with Saudi Arabia.”
Israel is still reluctant to recognize the Palestinian state even though many countries are starting to support a two-state solution.On the other hand, Tel Aviv continues to expand and annex territory in the West Bank which is Palestinian territory.
“A Palestinian state is not in my plans, even in relation to normalization efforts with Saudi Arabia,” Netanyahu said.
“What is said openly does not always reflect what always happens in closed negotiations,” he added.
Previously, the discourse of normalizing Israel and Saudi emerged again after Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MbS) met United States President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday (18/11).
Prince MbS again proposed conditions for recognition of a Palestinian state in Saudi normalization talks with Israel.
“We want to join the Abraham Accords (normalization of relations with Israel) in a process that ensures a two-state solution and peace between Palestine and Israel,” said Prince MbS.
Trump is indeed very diligent in seeking normalization between Saudi Arabia, one of the largest powers in the Middle East, and Israel.However, Riyadh is firm that this effort can only be carried out through the creation of a Palestinian state which must also be recognized by Israel.
