Head of the Sub-Directorate for Cooperation and Public Services of the Directorate General of Corrections, Rika Aprianti, explained that the communication tool used by Nikita was a facility from the Pondok Bambu Detention Center.
“Nikita Mirzani’s use of communication tools is a communication tool owned by the Pondok Bambu Detention Center as part of the facilities or means of communication rights given to inmates or detainees,” said Rika in a voice statement, Thursday (13/11).

Rika emphasized that the communication tool in question is a form of right that every inmate and prisoner has without exception. He said, all prisons and detention centers in Indonesia also provide these facilities.
“It is one of the rights, once again one of the rights granted by the Directorate General of Corrections of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections through Prisons and Detention Centers for the right to communicate between inmates and detainees with their families and relatives, of course in accordance with applicable regulations,” he added.
Previously, the panel of judges at the South Jakarta District Court (PN) sentenced artist Nikita Mirzani to 4 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to 3 months in prison.
This sentence was far from the demands of the Public Prosecutor (JPU), who wanted Nikita to be sentenced to 11 years in prison and a fine of IDR 2 billion, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.
Based on the facts that emerged at trial, the judge assessed that Nikita was not proven to have committed the crime of money laundering (TPPU) as was the cumulative indictment of the two public prosecutors.
According to the judge, Nikita was only proven to have committed the crime of extortion accompanied by threats.
Nikita is said to have distributed information and/or electronic documents containing extortion content with threats to defame her good name as regulated in Article 45 paragraph 10 letter A in conjunction with Article 27B paragraph (2) of the Law on Information and Electronic Transactions (UU ITE) in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.
The decision has not been finalized because Nikita has filed an appeal.
