The North Sumatra (North Sumatra) Regional Police on Sunday (30/11) released the latest data on disaster victims
flood
and landslides in North Sumatra where 176 people have died and 160 others are still being searched for.
“The total number of victims reached 1,090 people, with details of 176 people dead, 32 people seriously injured, 722 people slightly injured, 160 people were searched. The number of refugees was 30,445 people,” said Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Police, Police Commissioner Ferry Walintukan.

Ferry said that floods and landslides occurred on 24-28 November 2025 with 503 incidents consisting of 166 landslides, 315 floods, 20 fallen trees and 2 tornadoes.
“The areas affected by the disaster are Central Tapanuli, Sibolga, North Tapanuli, South Tapanuli, Mandailing Natal, Pakpak Bharat, Humbang Hasundutan, Nias, Padangsidimpuan, Langkat, South Nias, Serdangbedagai, Medan, Deliserdang, Tanah Karo, Tebingtinggi, Batubara, Binjai and Asahan,” he explained.
He added that a number of areas recorded quite large casualties, for example Central Tapanuli recorded 47 deaths, 51 people were still missing and 664 residents were displaced.Then Sibolga City recorded 33 deaths and 56 were still missing.
“Furthermore, 47 people died in South Tapanuli, 28 people have not been found and 5,482 residents have been displaced. Then 26 people have died in North Tapanuli, and 23 people have not been found,” he said.
He said that currently officers are still trying to send logistical, communication and medical assistance on time to the affected points.A total of 3,843 joint personnel from the National Police, TNI and related agencies have been deployed.
“Therefore, the North Sumatra Regional Police joint team has operated land, air and sea routes to speed up the distribution of aid,” explained Ferry.
Currently the North Sumatra Regional Police are planning steps to accelerate handling such as collecting data on additional logistics needs and SAR equipment, distributing aid from the CN-295 aircraft at the National Police Headquarters as well as assistance from the North Sumatra Regional Police and regional police ranks.
“Then accelerate the search for victims who are still missing, and coordinate with the regional government to add more suitable refugee camps,” he concluded.
