“The offer is there but not formally, just informally,” said Yaakov via short message, when contacted by hitclubapk3Indonesia.com, Wednesday (26/11).
Furthermore, Yaakov said the offer did not come from the Israeli government or officials.
“But through Jewish institutions that take care of this matter,” he said.
Yaakov also said that he had received such an offer for a long time. However, he chose to remain in Indonesia to take care of the Jewish community in this country.
The invitation for the Jewish community to move to Israel came into the spotlight after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government intended to bring the Jewish group in India, Bnei Menashe, to that country.
Netanyahu said he would bring 1,200 members of the Bnei Menashe community to northern Israel next year, one of whom will be placed in Nof HaGalil.
Furthermore, Netanyahu emphasized that the transfer of the Indian Jewish community was important to strengthen Israel’s northern regions, especially the Galilee.
The Galilee is the northern region of Israel which is often the target of attacks by the Lebanese Hezbollah militia group.
Tens of thousands of Israelis have left the area following the Israel-Hezbollah conflict.
