FAM
) received additional sanctions from
FIFA
apart from the punishment of losing three matches.
In a statement released today, Wednesday (17/12), FAM announced that it had received the latest punishment from the FIFA Disciplinary Committee which held a meeting last Friday.
The meeting discussed the issue of Malaysia fielding seven invalid naturalized players in test matches.

FIFA stated that FAM had violated article 19 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (2025 edition) by fielding ineligible players in three matches.
There is an additional fine of 10 thousand Swiss francs or the equivalent of IDR 209 million for the violation committed.
“In this case, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has decided that Malaysia lost 3-0 in all three matches. In addition, FAM was also fined CHF 10,000,” wrote a FIFA statement quoted from

Malaysia used seven invalid naturalized players in matches against Cape Verde (29 May), Singapore (4 September) and Palestine (8 September).
The Harimau Muda squad won in those three matches, but according to FIFA’s statement, Malaysia lost with a score of 0-3 in those three matches.
In September 2025, the FIFA Special Committee already imposed a fine of 350 thousand Swiss francs or IDR 7.3 billion in connection with the case of the seven naturalized players.
Meanwhile, the seven naturalized players who were declared invalid, because they did not have grandparents who were born in Malaysia, were also sentenced to a 12 month suspension and received a fine of 2,000 Swiss francs or IDR 41 million.
